  • House and pole building are wired for 240V.

The battery bank, controllers and inverters are all together in a dedicated part of the garden shed, about 15m separated from the house. House and pole building have each their own distribution board with RCD’s and breakers.

Water

A 25,000 liter storage tank holds a buffer and gravity feeds the house as well as a network of garden taps. The water is purified through a whole house filtration system including UV filter.

Heating

A gourmet wood fired cooker heats the kitchen and lounge while giving the opportunity to cook on it and use the inbuilt oven. The ‘boiler’ model is capable of running a network or radiators.

Gas

A gas storage station with 9kg LPG bottles services a gas hob and gas oven.

Hot water

A wetback system from the Gourmet cooker heats the water in a 360L hot water cylinder. An 1.5kW electric element can act as a backup. In addition the cylinder is prepared with an extra heat exchange for solar collectors.

Phone & Internet

A phone line to the house provides a landline and broadband. There is very limited cellphone reception on the property.

Kiriwhakapapa road, valley and stream are near the Tararua Ranges and home to a supportive and welcoming community with regular social events in the Mt. Bruce Hall.

The property is located 6km off State Highway 2. At the end of Kiriwhakapapa road there is access to the Tararua Ranges with multiple walking tracks and huts. Masterton is the nearest service town at about 20min distance, while going 10min north you will find Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife centre.
